In the Rotterdam district "De Esch" a radical transformation of the so-called Snelfilter building took place. Sustainability is central to this transformation. The building on Watertorenweg is now the last of the three buildings that has been given a residential destination.

In this beautiful building, Rotsvast offers 45 studios and apartments for rent from
€ 925, - basic rent. The studios and apartments have an area ranging from 44m2 to 66m2 and will be completed from mid-August 2018. All houses are also equipped with energy label A ++ and have a high-end level of comfort. a modern kitchen with appliances, a bathroom with toilet and modern shower. Various studios on the ground floor will be furnished for an additional charge and are available for short stay with a minimum period of rent of 1 month.

Tenants can use both the communal roof terrace and the backyard. In the basement room there is per cellar a basement box of approx. 8 m2.

History of the building:
The water tower from 1875 to a design by city architect C.B. van der Tak had a reservoir of 1 million liters of drinking water, the largest in the Netherlands backdays. [2] The construction of a pipe system through which clean water could be transported was an important tool in the fight against cholera and other infectious diseases. The Rotterdam Drinking Water Company (DWL), founded in 1874, left for the Schaardijk in 1977 next to the Van Brienenoord Bridge and has since merged into the water company Evides.

The tower (now partly a restaurant), the pump houses and other outbuildings were declared a national monument in 1981.
