It is important to have your chimney swept at least once a year by a certified chimney sweeping company. Please note that the frequency of chimney sweeping can vary per insurance company. Therefore, always follow the guidelines of your insurer. How often the chimney needs to be swept also depends on how often the fireplace is used. If the fireplace is used for heating and is on daily during the colder months, it is a good idea to have the fireplace swept twice a year. If it is used for atmospheric heating, once is sufficient (unless the insurer says otherwise).
