If the balcony is part of the rented property, it must be kept clean by the tenant. The communal balconies must also be kept clean by all users, in consultation with each other. A cleaning schedule is useful for this. Regular cleaning of the balconies prevents the drain from becoming clogged with leaves or other dirt, for example. This also prevents leaks (which are the tenant’s responsibility if they are caused by negligence). Because in most cases the balcony drain becomes clogged with leaves, it is important that both the balcony and the drain are cleared of leaves once a week.
