Roof drainage

A leak can occur during or shortly after rainfall, along the outer wall. Check that the drains and rain pipes are not blocked with leaves and dirt. A rain pipe is usually not glued and parts can therefore be carefully slid apart. The tenant is responsible for regularly cleaning the gutters and rainwater drains. There is a greater risk of blockage of the rainwater drain in homes with flat roofs. The tenant is liable for the repair costs and consequential damage, if a leak is found as a result of a blocked drain or by entering a roof where it is not permitted. It is therefore important that the gutters are checked twice a year and dirt is removed.
