Cleaning
Clean with a soft cloth and do not use soap or aggressive/corrosive cleaning agents when cleaning. For example, use dishwashing liquid or a mild all-purpose cleaner. Remove dust from the cooling grille on the back of the refrigerator with a brush or a soft cloth every now and then, this saves on power consumption!

Step-by-step plan to clean the refrigerator:

  1. Remove all removable shelves, drawers, containers and racks from the refrigerator. And clean them thoroughly.
  2. Wipe down the inside of the refrigerator. Don’t forget to also clean the door, shelves, drawers and the door seal.
  3. Polish with clean water and dry everything with a clean tea towel.

When you have defrosted your refrigerator, it is also a good time to give it a thorough cleaning. You can read more about defrosting your refrigerator below.

Defrost
A layer of ice forms when the refrigerator is in use. Make sure that this layer of ice does not become thicker than 5 millimeters. A layer of ice in the refrigerator reduces the functioning of the refrigerator. If something is frozen in the refrigerator, this can lead to great annoyance. Therefore, make sure that this is prevented.

Step-by-step plan for defrosting the refrigerator:

  1. Empty it completely. (Do you have a freezer in the fridge? Don’t forget to empty that too.)
  2. Now the defrosting can begin. Do this by switching off the refrigerator or unplugging it and leaving the door open. Defrosting can be accelerated by placing a bowl of hot water in the refrigerator. Do not use electrical appliances to accelerate it. You can use towels to catch the melted ice.
  3. Then clean the compartments. Do this in the above manner.
  4. Only put products that belong in the refrigerator in there when it is at the correct temperature.
