How to maintain a bathroom varies per situation. Below, the Rotsvast specialists share the best tips. This way, you know exactly how to clean different materials and everything lasts longer.

Ceramic tiles

It is important to avoid soap or oily products. This creates a filter on the floor, making footprints visible. Instead, use a mild cleaning agent. This is available at various stores. Rinse thoroughly with clean water after cleaning.

Smooth walls

Maintain tadelakt and beton-cire regularly with natural soap. Cement-based materials cannot be cleaned with a descaler, chlorine or other aggressive cleaning agents.

Stainless steel

When cleaning stainless steel, we advise against using a scouring pad, salt, silver polish or chloride-containing agents. Our advice is to use a chloride-free glass cleaner, normal cleaning agents and a damp microfibre cloth. There are also special sprays available that contain silicon oil. This gives the steel a thin protective coating.

Mosaic

Glass and ceramic mosaic can be cleaned with a regular sanitary cleaner. Mosaic made of natural stone, such as marble or pebbles, cannot withstand the acids in sanitary cleaners. For this, it is best to use green soap.
You can also impregnate certain types of tiles. This provides them with a layer that protects them from external influences. Mosaic tiles made of natural stone are very sensitive. In addition, the joints of mosaic tiles quickly become dirty. If you apply a 2-component grout, which prevents dirt from penetrating the joints, this problem is solved. You can also simply clean your bathroom weekly, which prevents dirt. If your joints are due for a major cleaning, you can smear bleach on a toothbrush and scrub with it. Let it soak in for a while and then rinse with clean water.
