Do you have a blockage in the toilet? Here are a few ways to solve this.
Unclogging the toilet by hand
Do you know what is causing the blockage in your toilet and do you think that this blockage can be easily removed by yourself? Then get started with this step. For your own hygiene, put on rubber gloves. This can be the case, for example, if the holder of the toilet block has fallen into the toilet or if you have used too much paper. Keep something at hand to throw away the blockage.
Flush the toilet with hot water
Using hot water helps when you tried to flush something greasy down the toilet. Be careful with your own safety. A combination of hot water and baking soda often works wonders in clearing the blockage in the toilet. Pour a lot of baking soda down the drain and then add the hot water, wait a few minutes and then flush the toilet again.
Unclogging a toilet with a plunger
Another way to counteract the blockage is to use a plunger. When using a plunger, pressure is created on the blockage and it disappears into the drain follow the steps below:
- First, slowly push the plunger down to create a vacuum.
- Then pull the end toward you with strong force to dislodge the blockage.
- To achieve the desired effect, it is important that there is enough water in the toilet bowl. Repeat this until the blockage is completely removed.
Unclogging the toilet with a drain cleaner
The last option before calling a plumber is to use a drain cleaner. However, only do this if you are certain that something organic is stuck. This is of no use if a plastic or metal object is stuck. Before use, read the instructions on the packaging of the product carefully. Drain cleaners can be purchased at a hardware store, for example.
Call the plumber
Did the above steps not help? Then it is wise to call a plumber. The plumber will then help you unclog the toilet
