The building

'Jan van Foreest' is a former office building that served as a PTT Postal sorting center. In transforming the office into a residential building, the original construction was preserved as much as possible. But the entire outer shell of the building has been renewed and insulated so that it meets today's (insulation) requirements. Also, the entire roof of the fifth floor was fitted with solar panels.

The location

Jan van Foreest is located in the Dichterswijk neighborhood, right by Utrecht's Central Station, near the old city center and on the waterfront. Despite its central location in this vibrant city, Jan van Foreest offers plenty of peace and privacy due to the various communal terraces on the roof on the water. The city center can be reached within minutes via the Moreelse bridge. There are also several stores and restaurants in the neighborhood itself.

The facilities

On the grounds there are over 60 car parking spaces, in addition there are several terraces and places to relax. In the basement of building is a large bicycle storage with a capacity of about 350 bicycles. Through the bicycle storage you can get directly to the main stairwell and elevator. There are also approximately 150 storage spaces in the basement. On the first floor there is a "Miele Laundrette" equipped with washing and drying machines. On the fifth floor are 2 more communal roof terraces.

The apartments

There are a number of different apartment types.

  • The smaller apartments have a clear height of about 3.5 meters. To make the best use of this height, these apartments are equipped with a living unit. In it, the following facilities are brought together in a compact way: bed, shower, sink, toilet, closet, bookcases, TV cabinet and the kitchen. Because the bed is located above it, additional space is left for the living room.
  • In the basement are the two-bedroom apartments located directly on the water, this combined with the round arched windows give you the feeling of the wharf cellars in the old town.
  • On the top floor are the three-bedroom apartments, all of which have private roof terraces with unique views of the city.
The delivery level of the apartments is high quality. For example, the entire building is insulated to the latest standards and all homes are equipped with both floor and wall finishes, curtains, a luxury kitchen and plumbing. The kitchens are equipped with Siemens appliances including an oven-microwave combination, dishwasher and fridge-freezer. Furthermore, all homes are equipped with a video intercom system and their own meter box.
